Using paint techniques to make it do, refresh old or transform boring using Chalk Paint
Chalk paint is not paint with chalk added or paint for chalk boards. It is a unique paint that has a matte, velvety finish and adheres over almost anything usually without sanding or other preparation. Chalk paint can create a “country” feel or just refresh old finishes.
Steps to use chalk paint (simplified but true)
- Pick a project
- Gather materials: chalk paint, paint brush, soft rags, sand paper, soft white wax.
- Clean the project with soap and water and let dry.
- Apply chalk paint with brush to desired consistency.
- If desired, distress project with sand paper. Sand away areas where normal wear and tear would occur.
- Apply soft white wax.
- Buff to a hard shine with soft cloth.
- For deeper color use a coat of dark wax and buff again to a hard shine.
