Frugal People know:  Use it up, Wear it out and Make it do or do without
Using paint techniques to make it do, refresh old or transform boring using Chalk Paint
Chalk paint is not paint with chalk added or paint for chalk boards.  It is a unique paint that has a matte, velvety finish and adheres over almost anything usually without sanding or other preparation. Chalk paint can create a “country” feel or just refresh old finishes.
Steps to use chalk paint (simplified but true)
  1. Pick a project
  2. Gather materials:  chalk paint, paint brush, soft rags, sand paper, soft white wax.
  3. Clean the project with soap and water and let dry.
  4. Apply chalk paint with brush to desired consistency.
  5. If desired, distress project with sand paper.  Sand away areas where normal wear and tear would occur.
  6. Apply soft white wax.
  7. Buff to a hard shine with soft cloth.
  8. For deeper color use a coat of dark wax and buff again to a hard shine.
